One of the leading insurance companies, Allianz suggesting measures about the tough weather conditions to prevent the accidents, has warned the drivers against dense fog, wet and slippery ground especially in winter and autumn seasons.
According to the winter driving guidebook of Allianz prepared for the drivers, the dense fog and the rain are taking the first place among the main reasons of the traffic accidents and followed by speeding, standing on the brakes, drifting while maneuvering. Including the driving techniques, the drivers are being warned about good driving and obeying the rules. On the other hand, Allianz recommends to the drivers to maintain their vehicles at the right time. The suggestions against the ice and snow weather conditions
In the guidebook, it is said that, especially in the snow and ice weather conditions, the suggestions are as follows: “Hail, heavy snow and rain all can reduce visibility. Only travel at a speed at which you can stop within the distance you can see to be clear. Keep your vehicle well-ventilated. The car heater full-on can quickly make you drowsy. Always reduce your speed smoothly and in plenty of time on slippery surfaces. Avoid harsh braking and acceleration, or sharp steering. Slow down in plenty of time before bends and corners. To slow down on ice and snow without locking your wheels, squeeze the brake pedal very gently until the speed has dropped, then select a lower gear. Increase the gap between you and the vehicle in front. You may need up to ten times the normal distance for braking. In snow, stop frequently to clean the windows, wheel arches, lights and number plates.”
