Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (TCIP) is organizing a Contest for Earthquake Resistant Building Design among the students in civil engineering departments of universities. Structural design, architecture, annual income and building cost will be the main criteria where contestants have to make the highest points and also the model of the building will have to endure the simulation desk to get the prize. The leader’s university will be awarded a simulation table and the first three teams will be receiving 10 thousand, 5 thousand and 3 thousand lira respectively. The deadline for applications on www.daskbinatasarimi.comis March 7th. TCIP Coordinator İsmet Güngör told the following: “As TCIP, our job is to secure houses against the possible damages caused by earthquakes under compulsory earthquake insurance. But we can not neglect the structural precautions to lessen the damage of earthquakes on houses.”
